I'm the last person who would defend Michele Bachmann. But this unflattering Newsweek cover photo of the presidential candidate is over the top. Bachmann is many things, but unattractive is not one of them. Yet, note the crazy, manic look in her eyes and the plastic smile, all of which screams, "Yes, maybe I really am nuts." (OK, OK -- I'm told Bachmann actually looks this way in person, including that strange light in her blue eyes. But still.) Is Tina Brown, Newsweek's new overlord, playing the sexist card to take Bachmann down a notch politically? Nope. It's about the money, stupid. Ms. Brown is after the buzz. The more the media talks about it, the more magazines she will sell. Sarah Palin would see these antics as typical of the biased, "lamestream" media. I really hate it when they prove her right.
