Dumb and Dumber

In a rank display of disingenuousness, Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) had their say on Libya last night: "Americans can be proud of the role our country has played in helping to defeat Qaddafi, but we regret that this success was so long in coming due to the failure of the United States to employ the full weight of our airpower." Because if we had gone all Dresden on Qaddafi and carpet-bombed, he would have waved the white flag just as quickly as Hitler (who, um, forgot to surrender). McCain (an ex-Navy pilot) knows perfectly well that airpower's effectiveness in asymmetrical warfare is marginal at best. But never mind. Steve Benen offered the best retort to Tweedle-dee and Twiddle-dum: "These two just can't bring themselves put aside petty partisan sniping, even when they're thrilled by the fall of a dictator." Which prompts the question: Are McCain and Graham "juicing?" Given the vapidity of their remarks, they just gotta be on a dumb-pill regimen of some sort.
