Bloggy barometers

Don't get wrong. TPM's Josh Marshall is one of the good guys out there. He's generally level-headed and among the best political analysts in the bloggerverse. He's always worth reading. With those hosannas out of the way, Marshall went all loopy on us when he wrote today: "The attitudes of the White House press corps are always one of the key barometers of how a president is doing." Talk about a LOL moment. Rarely do I have the chance to point out a more perfect example of media hubris. This one is a classic and one for the books. The gap between what the press thinks of Obama and how America perceives him is as wide as the Grand Canyon. And never the twain shall meet. At this point during the last presidential election cycle, Hillary Clinton was way ahead in the polls. She was all but declared the "inevitable" winner by the all-knowing DC press corps. Except Obama is sitting in the White House today. Just keeping it real, folks.
