Just to be fair

My political criticisms of Michele Bachmann will be relentless. But in the wake of the brouhaha over her Newsweek cover photo (I thought she was wronged), an opportunity to level the playing field presented itself. In defending the "Crazy Eyes" image, Newsweek overlord Tina Brown told MSNBC, “The intensity in her eyes is in all the photographs of her. ... And there is something about Michele Bachmann, with the eyes looking out, she has this very, very, kind of, intense demeanor.” In a word, bullfeathers. Note the crazy-eye-less photo below (courtesy of Slate). Stunning. It's worthy of Elle magazine. It's amazing what a photog can do when she's not trying to slander her subject.
