The trouble with political life
George Clooney's new movie, "Ides of March," hits theaters Oct. 7. It looks intriguing. The film, says the LA Times, centers on the fictional Gov. Mike Morris, a hard-core liberal's dream candidate. It explores "loyalty and compromise — how the most impassioned true believers, driven to win, can abandon the very principles that once anchored their lives." Clooney told the Times, "We wanted this to be a story about a man who goes from being great at his job to being the best at his job. And the only thing it costs him is his soul." Just like it too often does in real political life.
