Just doing the work of Jesus

Here's a headline for the ages from The Jerusalem Post: "Rick Perry is longtime friend of Israel ― and Jesus." Priceless. The paper writes: "Perry has nonplussed longtime Jewish supporters by claiming that he has been 'called' to the presidency and by hosting a prayer rally this month that appealed to Jesus to save America." The Post said that Perry's alleged calling "sent a shudder" through some conservative Jews. During Perry's Houston "Prayer-Palooza" ― dubbed The Response by his peeps ― the Texas governor insisted that “we must come together and call upon Jesus to guide us through unprecedented struggles." That gave heartburn to more than few in the Jewish conservative establishment, according to the Post. "My response to The Response: No, thanks," wrote Jacob Sullum, a syndicated columnist. "My people have managed without Jesus for thousands of years. Why start now?" Needless to say, Perry didn't get the memo.
