Smoke, mirrors and columns

I'm starting to worry about POLITICO columnist Roger Simon. He's a good guy, but insightful commentary has been missing from his columns of late. In today's piece he says Obama faces a BIG problem in his 2012 re-election bid. Not from the right, but from the left. Simon suggests the president is vulnerable. So, he asks, who "could mount a credible campaign against Obama in 2012?" His first nomination is Howard Dean who Simon admits "ran a disastrous campaign in 2004." Dean said he intends to support Obama. Next up is Hillary Clinton who has said no - a thousand times no! - she's not running. "I’m going to be, you know, moving on,” she said recently. Lastly, Simon floats the idea of Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich whom he accurately describes as "an unabashed, unashamed, unassimilated liberal." Even Simon admits Mr. K has no chance of winning. So, what was the point of the column? Beats me. And he gets paid for this fluff. Must be nice work if you can get it.
