Waiting to be dazzled
According to a new poll, adult usage of Twitter has risen by 8 percent over the past six months. That means total usage is now up to ... 13 percent. The Los Angeles Times gushed that this number is a "testament to the 5-year-old social networking site's growing popularity." Okay, let me see if I've got this right. About 87% of adults do NOT currently use Twitter, and six months ago, that number was 8 percent higher. And, gosh, at this blinding rate, will Twitter be able to (gasp) double adult usage to 26% in another 5 years or so? So, tell me again: Why am I supposed to be amazed and dazzled by Twitter's growth? 'Cuz, obviously, I'm missing something here.
