Frustration: Victory’s handmaiden

President Obama simply refuses to become a modern day FDR (hopped up on progressive steroids) as the left so badly craves. It ain't gonna happen -- at least not before re-election. Tim Carpenter, national director of Progressive Democrats of America, told the New York Times, “He’s frustrating. He’s somebody who came out of our movement. He’s certainly well read about progressive ideas. But he talks a good game. He compromises way too early. He surrenders in the third quarter of many of these fights.” It's possible Carpenter has a valid point. But he still misses the larger one. The object of the game is victory. It's also worth remembering Chuck Noll's old adage: "A life of frustration is inevitable for any coach whose main enjoyment is winning." And so far, by any measure, winning is just what Coach Obama keeps doing albeit imperfectly.
