The Case of the Missing POLITICO Facts

Last week, I took POLITICO to task ("Another Hack Job") for publishing gibberish about how President Obama was supposedly losing support from Jewish Americans. Among other things, star writer Ben Smith wrote: "Obama’s speech last month seems to have crystallized the doubts many pro-Israel Democrats had about Obama in 2008 in a way that could, on the margins, cost the president votes and money in 2012 and will not be easy to repair." The implication was clear. But the facts presented by the Defense to support it were flimsy at best. With your permission, Your Honor, I'd like to enter Exhibit M into evidence: "A new Gallup Poll found Monday that 60 percent of Jewish Americans said they approve of the way Obama is handling his job, a figure that's relatively consistent with the high level of support he's enjoyed from that bloc this year." The prosecution rests.
