The debate’s silver lining
The contenders in last night’s GOP debate produced no big ideas or positive visions for the nation’s future, let alone solutions to our thorny problems. But there is a silver lining: they forced the media to shove Sarah Palin off the national stage. A grateful nation thanks you. In fact, the roving Palin reality show has dropped off the radar screen like a jetliner in freefall. But isn’t she still doing the National Lampoon Vacation thing by bus, rewriting American history along the way? Suddenly, nobody (meaning the media) cares. Not that I’m complaining, mind you. The silence is truly golden. If only it would linger, if only for awhile. Alas, it won’t.
