Another inconvenient truth

GOP presidential candidate Tim Pawlwnty is now claiming that he, and he alone, can get the economy growing at 5% a year. That's crazy talk, of course. Megan McArdle (sighing) explains why: "As long as politicians keep saying it, I'll keep repeating it: the president does not control the economy. He cannot double our incomes, or even the economy's growth rate, by the sheer force of his fiery will." Sorry, T-Paw, but becoming president means you get a Secret Service detail - not a cape or a magic wand.
