A recent Pew Forum study found that Americans tend toward being a deeply religious people. On balance, that’s probably a good thing, provided we never go the way of the Taliban. The trouble is Americans are also "deeply ignorant about religion." Oy veh. However, that helps explain the sheer hysteria over building mosques and the sudden Tea Party fear of Sharia law. Only in America.
