Rouse the Mouse?

Pete Rouse, the newly appointed interim chief of staff for Obama, has been the most unassuming guy in the White House bar none, writes Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter. Seems he actually turned down a prime seat on the inaugural platform to watch the historic event on TV. Alter thinks the “Fixer,” as Rouse is known to insiders, is way too nice to be chief of staff. But that characteristic, Alter opined, might be manna for a staff that feels besieged. Ezra Klein noted, too, that Rouse is "quiet and retiring ... He's like a black hole for drama." Somehow, knowing all of this doesn’t make me feel better.
