'Meanie' Obama takes GOP lunch money

Crikey! I can hear the whimpering even from here. Congressional Republicans scampered home to mommy's apron strings after President Obama's press conference this week. The Bully in Chief was being really, really mean to them, they sniffed, tears welling in their eyes. But outside, before the cameras, they angrily shook their little fists and feinted courage. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kansas: "Maybe he should take a Valium and come on up here and talk to us." Sen. John Cornyn, R-Tex.: Obama's news conference as "absolutely disgraceful ... [the president] should be ashamed. I think the President has diminished that office and himself by giving the kind of campaign speeches that he gave yesterday." Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.: “It was rhetoric, I thought, that was more appropriate for some left-wing strong man than for the president of the United States.” And let's not forget stealth Republican mouthpiece Mark Halperin who thought Obama was “kind of a dick.” Right. Say all of that to Obama's face, tough guys. As one pundit correctly put it, Obama's remarks were at most "mild chiding." But Republicans act as if the president is a spike-haired, schoolyard bully out to steal their lunch money. This absurd kabuki theater would be much funnier if it wasn't so pathetic.
