Driven first by MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews’ man-crush and now an article in today’s NY Times, the convention wisdom has declared that Republicans are suddenly riding a wave of adulation for former President Bill Clinton. (Never mind they nearly impeached him.) “He was such a reasonable chap and you always knew where he stood on issues,” the CW says the GOP says with eyes aflutter. “Unlike that stick-in-mud Obama guy, you know.” Yeah, we know alright. So, what's the real reason behind the Republican wave of nostalgia for Bill Clinton? It’s the media wave of nostalgia for Bill Clinton. Why? Because that smarty-pants Obama won’t come out to play marbles with them. Ay curumba.
