Hello 112th Congress

New members of the House and Senate (looking every inch like the overachieving, high school student body presidents that many once were) are being sworn in today on Capitol Hill. The media coverage, of course, has been breathless and over the top. That clicking sound you hear is America changing channels or turning television sets off. And that is appropriate. They want action not political theatrics. If history is any guide, today’s events will be remembered as a minor footnote. But history will expend volumes judging what this 112th Congress does with its legislative power in the Age of Obama. Let’s hope they don’t blow it.
