In the shadow of Murrow
I had to chuckle at CNN's Suzanne Malveaux this morning as she interviewed retired Gen. Russel L. Honoré (of Hurricane Katrina fame) about the reported defeat of the Libyan air force. According to the Brits, Qaddafi's military air arm has been "destroyed as a fighting force" and allied planes are flying over Libya "with near impunity." Malveaux asked Gen. Honoré what the defeat means. "It means the Libyan air force had been defeated," replied Honoré as he glanced at cue cards out of camera sight. And the point of this erudite exchange? Beats me. I kid Malveaux (who's a decent journalist), but Edward R. Murrow is still spinning in his grave.
