Cassandra in a trench coat
The Showtime series “Homeland,” premiering tonight, stars Claire Danes as a C.I.A. officer who suspects a returning Marine P.O.W. of espionage, per the NY Times. Danes evidently plays a modern-day Cassandra, this time in a trench coat. Intriguingly, the espionage thriller is said to be more Hitchcock than John Le Carré. Times critic Alessandra Stanley wrote: "This series is not particularly high-tech, and it doesn’t have a real-time ticking clock conceit, spectacular special effects or preposterous red herrings. 'Homeland' is '24' for grown-ups." Finally. I can watch something on TV tonight without losing any brain cells (I hope).
